I am currently on week 13 of the Methotrexate vs Cyclosporine clinical trial in the UK(25mg a week). I have been feeling nauseous from the start but in the past month the morning after taking the tablet i have been physically sick. Today the nurse switched me to Metoject and I am hoping it helps, we will find out in the morning. What I wold like to know is your experiences with the tablets and with the metoject, side effect wise. Any questions on the trial I will gladly do my best to answer! :)

Hi,

I have had both tablets and injections with no side effects. Usually if nausea is a problem the injections are better as they bypass the stomach, they are also more effective as more of the Methotrexate is absorbed.

Good luck with the trial, what type of Vasculitis do you have?

Hello I have had oral and sub sut Methotrexate. The sub cut Methojet was more effective. Also less side effects.

I was put on metoject as I felt so poorly on the tablets. It certainly was better and some weeks I didn't have any ill effects from taking it. I did, however, eventually have to stop taking it due to the effect on my liver.

Like you I felt nauseous the day after taking methotrexate. I made the switch to metoject but continued to feel sick the following day. A check of my foliate levels revealed they were very low. My folic acid was increased from 1 tablet to 5 and the problem was solved. It seems that I had depleted my body's store. Hope you find a solution.

Hi ditto to most replies. I find metoject easier on my stomach. I still feel sick but not as much. As for what it's doing to the rest of me only time will tell. Take care X

Hope you've resolved how you're coping. I've been on oral now fir over 8 years. Have had 'bad' days with it nausea, headaches etc but not every time so I just rest that day, or make sure I've planned nothing too taxing (ha ..not many days that could be anyway!). Hope things get sorted fir you.
