Morning sickness .......

Hi all,

I have Rheumatoid Vasculitis and am on sulfasalazine, prednisolone, hydroxychloroquine, gabapentin and rituximab infusions. I am still able to work but it takes me a good hour to get ready in the morning due to the aches and pains. I also suffer from vomiting first thing in the morning, which gets me down - I don't get this at any other time during the day.

Can anyone please advise on what I can do to help with the vomiting. I take omeprazole to protect my tummy, but wonder if anyone else suffers with this and if you have any miracle remedies.

Does your consultant know about this sickness problem you have in the morning?

No, but I am seeing him next week and will mention it. I didn't know if it was a side effect of my meds.

Hi Charlie i suffered with the sickness bug for a while and i spoke to my consultant he suggested i take the omeprazole tablet in the evening.I did so and so far it has worked for me,I have vasculitis,wenegers by the way.Hope this helps.

Hi Keithtim10. I will try this, thank you. Sometimes it can be the simplest change that works and I didn't think to take it at night!! I will let you know how I get on.

Hi Charlie I'm not sure if it will help as you take different medications to me. I have Churg strauss and suffered from feeling sick in the morning and I helped to always make sure I took my medication after food - I took prednisolone and pregabalin. I've also had to swap my stomach protector a couple of times as I used to take lanzoprozole for a couple of years then couldn't tolerate so now I take rantadine - but there are you a few you can take. And looking at the times I took my medication also I swapped around. If you have a good chemist or the hospital chemist they can give you good advice about how the medication may be interacting with each other and their side effects. I think you should also speak to your consultant. Best of luck

Hi Charlie.

Sorry you're struggling with nausea. I, too, suffered when I was on chemo.

As recommended by others, you should certainly alert your physician to this issue. My nephrologist prescribed meds that really helped, including:

Zofran (Ondansetron)

Reglan (Metoclopramide)
