Not Quite relevant here but....

This, I'll admit, isn't quite the right place but....Has anyone else encountered messages, allegedly from Microsoft, telling you that your computer 'is infected with a virus' (this can take the form of a Critical Alert). If you have, you are not alone! The 'Remedy' is two fold....Firstly don't panic/worry your data is NOT being Downloaded, or destroyed. Secondly Put 'CC Cleaner' into your search engine-then download the Free Version. Finally run this entirely free, and VERY helpful, program. Low, and behold, all the, 'rubbish' will did-appear.

There are a huge number of 'scams', at the moment, so-and I know you will all 'groan here'-be VERY carful. Don't trust anything that you don't know-even if it seems 'harmless'. Far better to have to apologise, to a genuine enquiry, that risk all your data (along with other people's) getting into the Wrong Hands. Sorry to 'harp on' so.

Hoping that 'everyone' is well or, at least, as well as you can be.

Warmest wishes

AndrewT

Yes, Andrew , John used to string them along and then put the phone down on them, but now he just puts the phone down on them. There should be a law to stop this.

I fell foul of these people last year - previously l used to hang up - but l must have been on another planet or something that day. Anyway the end result was me having to buy another PC as "they" - when l told them l wasn't interested after realising it was a scam -downloaded a programme which ruined my O/S but fortunately not my Hard Drive. So beware everyone.

Dear Sally,

Sorry to hear about your 'problems' but it DOES illustrate, in no uncertain terms, how easily we can ALL fall Victim.

Sorry that you were 'stung' though.

Kindest wishes AndrewT

I'd also recommend everyone sign up to the Telephone Preference Service which helps to cut down on unwarranted calls.

I'm not quite so worried, about the 'phone calls'- I CAN tell them to- how can i put this- .... off! I have just had, a probable, 'scam' in my In-Box. When I Clicked, for further information, my Security System 'warned me off'...I left!
