Hi Sandra,

What treatment are you on and do you see a Consultant with experience in treating Vasculitis?

Have you been given a diagnosis apart from Aortitis ( TAK or GCA )?

Hi, I'm currently taking 20mg of predisolone daily and have been since reducing them gradually until April and have yo remain on this dose until my next appointment, Whilst in hospital In January was on 60mg daily and was given 750mg intravenously over 3days.

I also take 75mg Asprin, Ranitidine, calciumAd3, folic acid, ( I had 2 blood transfusion while in hospital as I was anaemic.)

The consultant I see is a Rheumatologist who diagnosed me with GCA . Aortitis confirmed by a scan showing inflammation of the Aorta & left subclavian artery.

My next appointment with her Is in 13th June, where she says we may discuss additional therapy as a MRI scan I had in March showed some improvement and my ESR level is hovering between 34 & 38 , but is Much better than when admitted as it was 145.

Hi Sandra,

Your treatment sounds pretty standard as Prednislone is the mainstay of GCA treatment although they do sometimes add in other immunosupressants such as Methotrexate or similar.

Was there any specific questions you wanted to ask?
