I have been taking prednisolone for eighteen months and one of the side effects is insomnia. I listen to the BBC world service.

I take prednisilone first thing in the morning when I'm on it.

Depending on the size of the dose it either stops me sleeping or gives me whacky dreams. It's just part of the drug side effects unfortunately. 😒

Ive been on pred for 2 years ,its the devils drug, helps with vasculitis though, its a trade off unfortunately.Im in 9mg now with weekly injections of 25mg of methotrexate,to be honest the mtx makes me feel worse than pred.

Me too. My rheumy's just agreed I can try the MTX injections to see if that will help minimise the stomach side-effects. I actually liked being on high dose Pred - pity it's not a long-term option :(

I prefer methotrexate to prednisilone. With methotrexate I can feel unwell the day after but the rest of the time I'm fortunate enough to feel great.

I'm lucky in that respect.

I've never heard anyone else say that but I also liked being on high dose steroids. Not a long term solution for sure but I did very well with it.

Wacky dreams I think I'm wacky enough thanks for the info

Do you take your pred early in the morning? If not, I should try it. I've been on Pred since September 2014. Started at 40mg. Now reduced down to 10mg. Have no problems sleeping, but I take them at 5am with breakfast. My Methotrexate injections have just been reduced from 25ml to 20ml because of elevated liver enzyme. I get the most awful mouth pain, sore lips, gums, tongue and inflamed cheeks inside. Also get deafness in my left ear. Injection Thursday evening, everything starts up on Saturday until Tuesday evening. Wednesday and Thursday, no problems.
