I was prescribed a spray for my throat which helped the dryness. Otherwise I just sip water.
When out and about, & to stimulate saliva when needed, I suck little sugar-free "Smintz " (available in Boots & suggested by my dentist). l also use no sugar chewing gum sometimes.
I find the mouth drynss comes and goes and can sometimes "hit" me out of the blue so I always have some Smintz, which come in a very small, handy box, in my handbag for quick use when needed. Instant relief for me!
Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply, Budapest. I agree with you. It comes and goes. I will try and get some Smints.
I don't know why my post doesn't appear on the normal list of posts so I was surprised to get a reply.
Your dry mouth may well simply be due to your medication. But occasionally people with vasculitis can also have Sjögren's syndrome. This is characterised by a dry mouth amongst other symptoms. I'd suggest you mention it to your GP or vasculitis consultant, just so they can check it out for you.
All the best,
Richard.
Yes, I already had secondary Sjogren's before my vasculitis diagnosis. It's secondary to RA. I have mouth spray (glandosane) on prescription, but prefer a mouth gel. Hypromellose preservative free eye drops and Beconase nasal spray, which I have to be careful with as it aggravates my sinuses. Chewing sugar free gum also helps, although it really hurts my tongue and lips when I first start chewing it. Vaseline around the lips also helps keep them moist.
Just in case you do have Sjogren's, you might find this website helpful. It does have tips on how to keep your mouth from becoming too dry. Oral hygiene is paramount when you have a dry mouth.
It probably is due to your medication-rather like the aches, pains, headaches, bloating/wind/constipation-mustn't forget that must we! I think the sugar feel gum, is a good idea- but please, please, please don't spit it all over the f....g place! I'm quite sure that you won't do this actually, but I'm asking anyway!
Please do let us know how you get on, will you?
Kind regards AndrewT
Thank you for your reply AnndrewT. I am going to try sugar free gum. At the moment my mouth is ok. It certainly comes and goes. I sometimes wonder if it is Type2 diabetes, I must go to my GP and get that checked
