My son has Vasculitis with kidney involvement. He also has autism, and he finds it very difficult to fall asleep. He has been on melatonin for years, which lets him get some sleep. My GP has told me that he should not be on melatonin and hydroxychloroquine, and that someone with vasculitis should not be taking melatonin. Has anyone else experienced this?

I take melatonin and have no problems whatsoever. I sometimes take Theanine-serene which also helps me sleep. These are Aminoi Acids. I don't have any idea what the problem would be with taking a harmless amino like melatonin.
But I would certainly rather take a non-prescription sleep remedy than a drug.
It seems that some Doctors know little about anything other than toxic drugs and I promise there are a lot more side effects from drugs for sleep, like ambien and others than melatonin.
My son was on Melatonin for 12 years asa child, however, adult services were refusing to prescribe it. They wanted him on totally inappropriate "Z" drugs. After a battle we got the GP to prescribe but this is the latest problem. They maintain that melatonin should not be used with immuno-suppressants.
