Sore gums

Anyone got sore gums after starting methotexrate I have always had sensitive teeth so use special toothpaste mouthwash and have generally good teeth hygiene but my gums have become sore all the time and more so when eating Thanks for any help

Hi,

Do you take Folic acid 4 days after taking Metho'? I's supposed to help avoid mouth ulcers etc whilst taking this drug.

When I was on Metho' I took Folic acid and never had a problem. The one and only time I did have a problem (mouth full of painful ulcers), was when I was made to stop all of my medication for a week whilst in hospital. Very painful and not recommended.

Hi B., yes I take folic acid tablets every day except the day I take the metho don't actually have any ulcers just sore gums But thanks will keep a watch out Mouthand nose ulcers are a frequent with lupus Take care hope you have a good day

Hi I am on Metho and take Folic acid 4 x a week ( all seperate days and the first one 2 days after the Metho). I still get the odd mouth ulcer but not sore gums, but nothing significant so maybe yours are related to your Lupus? I guess the usual and discuss with consultant?

Hi, I occasionally get sore gums, (was on Meth not on Azaithioprine), and the sensation that my teeth feel wobbly ;-). But it clears up without any medical intervention. Not sure if its related but I dont remember it before diagnosis (MPA).

I would say, that its important to eat well whilst on the concoction of drugs so if its putting you off eating properly - go to your GP.

Hi thanks for your replies Jane funny I do feel one tooth wobbly Just made a dentist app to get them checked anyway Diet I eat very healthy always been a big fan of natural foods and the lupus means I have to eat healthy thanks for that . Have a good day
