Very Low Calorie Diet 800kcals - could this have started/increased my Tinitus?

I all, I'm taking part in a 800kcal diet where I hope to reverse my type 2 diabetes. It's a total meal replacement where I have 4 shakes/soups a day for a total of 12 weeks before moving onto a higher amount of calories.

I've been doing it nearly 3 weeks and have lost approx 5% of my starting body weight. (8kg)

I've noticed the last 14 days that I have tinnitus and it's louder in the last couple of days.

I've been to see my health centre and they have checked my ears and confirm I have no wax. They have referred me to an audiologist who I will see in a couple of weeks.

I wonder if the diet and tinitus are linked. Has anyone else experienced this?

I have noticed some hearing loss over the past few months before the to be clear as I've read on here that tinitus could be a reaction to that.

Mine got much worse with sudden hearing loss then an ear infection in my other ear. I don't know about diet. I heard fasting may help to clear toxins and help tinnitus. I haven't tried yet.It could be linked but I'm no expert. Sorry.

You can get the diagnosis tuba aperta , which is open eustacian tubes if you : Have had a fast weight loss, is pregnant or can hear your own voice in your head. Something apparently happen to your ears, if you loose weight too fast ( told by an ENT )

I went on a vegan diet to reduce my cholesterol . Can’t say it made any difference with my T . The diet certainly did lower my cholesterol .
