Caffeine is a drug that stimulates (increases the activity of) your brain and nervous system. Caffeine is found in many drinks such as coffee, tea, soft drinks and energy drinks. Chocolate also contains caffeine. Energy drinks often have more caffeine and sugar than soft drinks.

Interestingly I have done the opposite- having almost never drunk caffeine containing drinks because of the effect they have on me I have recently started drinking tea on a regular basis. My tinnitus is a lot worse. I don’t know if it is the caffeine but it is also interesting that you write about increasing the stimulation of your brain as I find being on my phone a lot increases my tinnitus. Weird and I don’t know how they link.
Hi My hubby who has had tinnitus for 8 yrs now loved his Coffee but was one of the first things he had to let go as it exacerbated condition, however he found an alternative that works for him it's from Holland & Barrett or Amazon and called Whole Earth Organic no caffeine coffee alternative made with Barley, figs and chicory, you may want give it a go.
In the past I have tried cutting out Caffeine, but it made no differance to my T, I still had good days and also not so good days, like what as been said before, what works for one person will not work for others but it`s worth trying, Good Luck.
I was going to mention Salt in the Original post, Salt is in a lot of things as well. A lot of things are often recommendations, but, no real case studies of results for Caffeine or Salt online, I can't see it would make any difference to me, but, I may try it and see. My Brain seems Hyper Active, so who knows, it might calm it down a little bit. I still need to keep trying some different meds to see if anything else will make any difference.
Like many I, too, have tried reducing the usual suspects - caffeine, salt, alcohol - but with no effect at all on my tinnitus. The positive takeaway from that is that my tinnitus doesn't dictate what I can and cannot ingest.
Mine is always louder when waking, morning coffee is the only thing that has ever eased the effect, caffeine is a strong drug, I think it kills insects that eat the plants containing.
