Over the last 3 years my Tinnitus has deteriorated rapidly. It is constant and I have found one thing that makes me sleep at night is WhiteNoise on YouTube. Highly recommendable. I am getting hearing aids which the Audiologist hopes will reduce my Tinnitus. Meanwhile, it's really troublesome and affects my mood and emotions. I am keen to be a member of this Group and already know how other people with the same condition/illness can identify with me and a problem shared is a problem halved! Other people cannot imagine the sheer hell of this constant loud noise in my head......
Yours hopefully,
Louise

yes Nana and tinnitus is so common … many people aren’t bothered by it or have got over it. Lots of people have been on this site over the years and are probably not needing to be here any more - don’t want to be reminded of the bad times.
It’s something that, over time, becomes less intrusive and just part of the normal ups and downs of life.
Hi there. I'm definitely finding this group helpful. The saying 'a problem shared is a problem halved' is very apt. If people don't have anyone to talk to and are isolated due to their condition, reaching out can be helpful. I hope the hearing aids make a positive difference to you when they arrive.Sara
I can completely identify with your situation - my tinnitus deteriorated significantly a few years ago, after more than 20 years at a tolerable level. And yes, other people find it hard to imagine what you're going through - you tell them about it but it seems to go in one ear and out the other. It's good that white noise works for you. I know it does for many people but I had a bad reaction to listening to white noise on Youtube (on headphones) - my noise-like background tinnitus went down to virtually nothing but my high-pitch tones spiked to an unbearable level. So now I avoid it. I prefer the sound of waves or thunder to help me sleep.
Hello Nana I see you are 80 years old, can you manage to get out side and go for walks, that is one thing that has always and still does help me,a certain rain sound at night used to work wonders for me but now I am able to sleep well at night with out it,mainly due to will power but also just coming to terms with the noise,my T is constantly loud 23/7 but I am in a good place and you are right apart from some of us unlucky ones nobody can imagine how bad it is.just to say being part of this site does not make the T any easier but it's nice knowing I am and we are not alone.
