Sound Machine for bedtime use.

Hello. I had a Sound Oasis Sleep Sound Therapy Machine that I got from tinnitus uk at least 7 years ago if not longer. It has been fantastic. It now needs to be reset every few days so is dying.

The thing I didn't like about that machine was when the clocks went back. I had to painstakingly mover the clock forward by 11 hours. It took forever.

Can anyone advise on a sound machine that has the night enhancer, up to 90 mins timer. With a blackout night display as I can't sleep unless it's completely black?

I bought a little machine but I can't stand the white noise setting and it's still too loud on its lowest setting.

These machines are so expensive now I have to get it right.

Thank you

I use the Sound Oasis too, you can buy them on eBay. You might be able to pick up a second hand one, that’s what I did. The clock setting is annoying, but I never look at the clock and don’t use the alarm function.

Hi Philip. I bought one from ebay last week and after communication from the seller that it worked...did it heck. So as I only had it for one night I asked the seller for a refund (£49.99) and I'd send it back. She offered me £25 and I could bin the machine...cheeky b#£%^#d. I git the whole of my money back by using the ebay guarantee. So I'm not really impressed with ebay now.

You were unlucky, I got mine from EBay and it was fine. But I can understand your reluctance to get another second hand one.

Pure tone have got several machines including Oasis and you get 10% off if you're a member of Tinnitus UK.

Hi there. My machine was bought from the British tinnitus association (now tinnitus uk). I don't know why but we can't find Tinnitus Uk's shop. We've searched the Web.

Here you go, it’s from the RNID site. You can buy new ones here. rnidconnevans.co.uk/catalog...

Hi Carly. I don't think there is a shop on the new website. You buy direct from Puretone. If you're a member already or you want to sign up click on membership. Then scroll down and you'll come to member's benefits. If you click on Puretone it will take you to the BTA (now T UK) section of the PT website. Hope that helps 🙂

I'm not familiar with the Sound Oasis machine but I use a "Homecube White Noise Machine" that I got from Amazon. It isn't actually a cube but is sort of raindrop-shaped. I have found it to be a very good purchase for £30 or so. It has 29 sounds including white noise, fan sounds and Nature sounds. I like the campfire, thunder and waves. Above all, the sound quality is very good. It doesn't have a clock as such but has a timer that allows you to set it to automatically stop in 30, 60 or 90 minutes. There is a built-in night-light but you can switch this off. The "RENPHO White Noise Machine" has similar features and the same sounds but is a different shape. I hope that helps.

That's great, I'll take a look at these machines. Thank you :)

That homecube looks good. Can you tell me. The light, can the machine work without a light being on at the same time? I can't sleep with any light in the bedroom. Everything that has a standby light has gaffa tape over it lol.

Yes, you can run it with the light off. That's how I use it at night, as I'm a similar to you. There is a tiny power LED that lights when it's on, but it's not very bright at all.

I will have to put gaffa tape over the led light. Even if I close my eyes my brain would know it was there so wouldn't allow me to sleep lol.

I shifted from using a physical machine to using an app, I used the free ResoundRelief app (resound.com/en-gb/hearing-a.... I preferred it to the physical machine as it allowed me mix 5 different sounds at different volume levels.

Thank you. I've just clicked on the link you added but it's saying it's redirect but it's not. Can you find me a more up to date link from the one you use please? Thank you

Hi after trying several digital sound generators and apps that emulate natural sounds I eventually found this on Amazon

Marpac Yogasleep Dohm UNO White Noise Sound Machine

it’s very interesting as it’s not a sound generator that plays black digital samples it’s an actual fan in a box that you can adjust the volume via sliding air holes It produces a natural white noise sound. I use it with a push button timer to set the duration.
