hi, I’ve not written on this site for a long time so long I don’t remember the last post but I’ve had tinnitus in my left ear for years now and learnt to live with it but I’m hitting 3 weeks of an ear infection and I’m reaching the end of my rope.
I’ve had medication her feels like it’s doing the job and then stops. I’m currently struggling to sleep, having no break from the pain. Dr said it was thrush/yeast infection, ear has been cleaned three times and is once again blocking up and the pain is crazy.
I don’t know what to do. I have ent Wednesday, the places I’ve been to for cleaning are shut for the weekend and I’m panicking that it’s going to block again.
Here’s what they gave me:
Ciloxan drops, Flucloxacillian 500mg and Otomise spray but I won’t use that I’m positive that’s how I got T in the first place.
I’m not sure what I’m asking for or if I’m just ranting lol

I had thrush in one of my ears in 2018 so I know how painful it can be. I was given anti-fungals which cleared the infection but it came back multiple times.
In despair I googled thrush and discovered it's caused by candida. I googled candida and found out it's fuelled by sugar , yeast and alcohol.
With nothing to lose I gave them all up. Within two weeks my ear was clear and I was pain free. My GP she said it was a coincidence.
So I resumed eating sugar and yeast and my ear blocked up and it started all over again. So I gave them up and was fine.
It's been five years and as long as I steer clear of sugar and yeast - except on special occasions - there's no problem.
I'm not a drinker personally (I'm terrible at it. Half a can or beer and I'm holding onto things for dear life, anything more and I'll be on my back lol). Sugar I'm currently trying to avoid but that's only been maybe a day or two the yeast thing I haven't tried but I will give that a go too. Thanks for the reply.
The pain is driving me crazy, I am half minded to go to the Hospital to find a way of dealing with the pain.
I have recently, as in the last hr. or so been advised that Ciloxan drops are a no no for ear infection because apparently they help create a wet breeding ground so I'm probably going to not use those too.
I know. It's very painful. I almost went to A&E several times .. In the end I was given strong meds as pain relief but they made me sick. It's very tricky. Try giving up sugar and yeast and keep your ears dry at all times. There's a supplement - Candiclear - which may speed up the process too.
hi I’m doing better. I went to the hospital (ENT) they did some looking said it’s super infected and gave me more drops. They gave me a talk about coming back a few trips to have it cleaned out piece by piece which is annoying.
I'm glad ENT are helping you but I agree multiple trips to the hospital are no fun. How are you getting on without sugar and yeast? I found it quite a trial at first.
I haven’t planned that out yet. Right now I’m focusing on the drops and getting the ear cleaned out because it’s blocked up and I just don’t think the drops will work if the ear canal is all full (they microsuctioned it a little) but once this is sorted I’m going to change my diet plan to something similar to what you mentioned and a few things that I probably should’ve changed years ago.
