last year it was buzzing sound then after 2 'artificial' noise incidents- my T became more intense, more solid tone, more piercing - its become unbearable

i feel my T is a rare reactive type and has severely restricted my life

Anyone else experience this worsening of the T with changes to the sound of the T and more intense , piercing unbearable

hi there and I’m sorry you’re suffering. I’ve had T. since I was 11 years old and have dealt with bouts of up-and-down my entire life. Whenever I think I can’t deal with it anymore I just tell myself this too shall pass and wait for it to improve. It always does. Mine is also reactive, so I understand your pain. The other day, though I noticed that I had no tea at all. But then the next day the quiet sound of the air conditioner was creating a hissing sound in my head. I just keep trying to go from day today. Some days are better than others.

Marleyna has made a helpful response, and I hope you read the post from Upbeatmap today, too.

Tinnitus does change, I think of it as an evil imp that finds ways to annoy and distress you just when you think you are getting on top of it. It’s just an imp. Ignore it (not so easy I know) and it will get bored and fade into the background.

But you do need help to get it into the background and I hope you’ve taken on board other posters’ responses to you over the last weeks.

thnx Rosie - i am trying - cbt and very gentle sound therapy , but i get these horrendous (permanent ) changes every now and again. Now the T is literally screeching in my head every day and loud

what I’m sensing from you surviveT is that you are concentrating hard on the sounds you are experiencing- I think the fact that you’ve posted on the subject is evidence of this. I’m hoping the CBT will teach you to look at this in a different way: yes the sound is there, but it’s what you do about it that will, help you. In other words, don’t concentrate on the sounds but on your anxiety management. Does this make sense?
