Do anti histamines intensify Tinnitus?

I have seasonal allergies- especially to grass, oak, and pollen. I find that when I take an antihistamine, such as Claritin, my recent onset of tinnitus, especially the hissing, is intensified. Does anyone else experience this?

I’ve had T for a long time - I also get seasonal hay fever and take cetrizine tablets. I haven’t noticed a spike in my T when taking these tablets but as hay fever does block your nasal passages anyway maybe it’s this that’s causing your tinnitus to be more of a noticeable problem for you? I hope it settles down soon. Stay safe. K

Hi there. I took an antihistamine - phenergan - to help me sleep last year and it didn't increase my T. I didn't take it every day though. Just two or three times a week . It said on the leaflet that it can increase the ringing in your ears while you take it. Hope your T settles one way or another.

I know that when I've taken cetrizine I feel drugged and can't keep my eyes open (this was before T onset), however I find that my T is much worse if I'm tired so I guess it's possible that taking antihistamines which make you drowsy may make the T worse even if only indirectly.

Have you thought about trying a natural Anti-Histamine like Extra Strength Quercetin? It's not a drug, Quercetin is a totally natural supplement and has been just as effective for me as Antihistamine drugs. Also better for your liver, T, health, everything.
