Internal Vertigo?

Hi all. Does anyone experience a sort of 'internal vertigo?'

I often get a head spinning feeling/can't think straight/have to lie down but visually the room isn't spinning if you know what I mean...

Other times I get traditional vertigo, feel giddy, can't judge steps, feet feel like they're not properly. Usually just lie down with both...wondered if anyone has any thoughts of the internal vertigo...during that I feel like my mind is like a washing machine.

Currently lying down, vertigo subsided but I feel nauseous. I know it will pass 🧸

Take care everyone and be kind to yourself.

Hi there, have you been tested for Meniere's Disease or severe stress? I wish you well, research into cures is always happening, and it's not always a tablet, it could be cognitive retraining.

Thanks stress is definitely a trigger. I've been told by ear nose and throat consultant that it is 'likely' I have menieres.

*It was a very brief consultation lasting a few minutes.

Due back to see him next month. I've not had any tests for menueres...not sure what they are.

He prescribed betahistine but I had to stop taking it. Felt ill with it (even after cutting the dose to occasional use).

I lost my Dad last spring after caring for him for many years and this could be part of it. Wore a hearing aid for 6 years and always has lots of ear infections over the years (mumps when I was 4)

Had an MRI when I first got my hearing aid and a recent hearing test - hearing levels hadn't changed but problems with pressure building up, tinnitus, fluctuating hearing and vertigo. Just came out of another vertigo attack from yesterday. I'll look up cognitive re-trainining, thanks. Haven't heard of it.

Hi :) by cognitive retraining, l mean just an umbrella term for all the various psychological treatments the medical profession can offer. But l note that Menieres also has some physical meds e.g. Betahistine as you just mentioned. Sorry to hear about your dad passing. You're quite a hard working person.

By the way, l often used to feel pressure build up in my only hearing ear. I wonder what the significance of it is ...

Thanks for your kind words. I think I'll explore psychological side...should help with stress and anxiety. Along with country tunes. Yes now that you mention it, the pressure builds in my good ear, funny that. Take care x

Hello, yes I do get that exact sensation and it is just a part of my Menieres Disease effects so it may be worth your while to have tests for Menieres, if you can. In that situation if I lie down for an hour or so and it normally passes but if I try to continue with normal activities it takes much longer.

Thanks for that. Yes I need to stop if I feel it coming on and cut down on social stuff. Lying down helps. I struggle if I'm with someone who talks a lot. It is rotten cos I like people but all the talking makes me feel ill sometimes...hard to keep up...

'Everybody's Talkin' that song by Willie Nelson sums it up!
