I'm 47 yr old and following a blood test I've been told I have diabetes type 2. Along with nausea, vertigo, spikes in tinnitus and increased noise sensitivity, I've been really tired. However, I had linked tiredness and the lack of energy due to getting too little sleep due to other symptoms. I hadn't considered diabetes.
Has anyone had similar and does managing diabetes help all or some of the other symptoms?
Note: I've had tinnitus a few years and an audiologist said my tinnitus is a result of hearing loss and damaged eardrum, not diabetes.

I can’t comment specifically on what you asked, but I do remember you’ve made some very helpful posts over the last months. That being so, I believe you are the kind of person who is going to look after their diabetes (I’m sure you’ve been to the right websites already) and I’m also glad that you can now hang on to a firm diagnosis. It’s a well known condition and you can “curate” your diet and lifestyle to help you deal with it.
It's seems you know me too well Happyrosie :). The advent calendar is already in the bin and I'm trawling a number of diabetes sites and forums as we speak :).
The information I've found that is that diabetes and tinnitus are not reliably linked (BTA mention diabetes, as another cause, but as barely a footnote). However, there was a suggestion that diabetes caused more persistent tinnitus which has been my experience in recent months
Hi I've got tinnitus, vertigo, ear pressure and psoriatic arthritis. I get tired and sudden bouts of nausea too. I've been told I've got vestibular migraine. Noise sensitivity too. Our symptoms are so similar! I've had the vertigo for three years but the past year has been especially bad as it is fortnightly. I've worn a hearing aid for 7 years.
For me, I don't know if it stress related but if I'm stressed it can come on and I trip over my feet. Today has not been the best so I hope I don't sound too negative. I've not had a test for diabetes though it is in my family.
Good luck. I'm sure you will do well. What a shame. Another thing to juggle but good to eat healthy. Hope you're ok.
Hi Hidden , yes I'm ok. Thanks for asking. Oh I didn't mention above, but you might be interested, that my blood results also showed vitamin D and vitamin B12 deficiency. All of these show some crossover in symptoms I've (we've) been experiencing. Never simple!
That is very interesting about B12 as I don't eat red meat and have a kind of semi-vegetarian diet. I take a vit D supplement but I think I'll get B12 checked out. Yes we are tinnitus twins in a way!
I'm feeling a bit better, ear pressure has went down. I was laughing at you binning your advent calendar chocolate (quite right; that chocolate is rubbish anyway!)
I also was recently diagnosed with T2. The good news is that once my blood sugars were brought under control, my sleep pattern has been greatly improved. It is not perfect, sometimes I still toss and turn, but it is much better.
