Is this new sound T or something else?

I have had T in my left ear for over 20 years and am totally habituated. A couple of weeks ago developed a new sound in my right ear which threw me. This new sound is weird. It's a low hum but I can't hear it when I press my ear over. It's not 'the hum' because I can hear it everywhere. Sometimes, if I press my ear and then release it goes away for 15 mins or so, usually coming back if I move or a door shuts. So whilst I am trying to habituate a second time does anyone know if this is something different? Don't want to put it sown to T if it is something else.

Hi Tig 1, I am in similar position as you. I have had T for a very long time in my left ear and have become used to the high pitch noise. However, I have now acquired a different sound lately and now having to come to terms with it also. Nightmare!

Soos, thanks for replying. I keep saying to myself I habituated to it before so I will do it again. It's just strange because it can stop for 15 mins or so and then start again if I move but it is pretty constant and of course can't get it checked out right now.

Same for me, I've had tinnitus in my left ear for 20 years. 4 weeks ago I strained my neck now the tinnitus is so loud it is intollarable

loud and I'm having to get use to it again.

A few days ago I noticed a low hum in my right ear, it comes and goes same as yours.

I'm putting this down to the fact that things are so quite that I am now hearing things I would not normally hear. There is no background noise of car or people.

as there is no real background noise

Yeah it's weird. If I put my finger in my ear I can't hear it but it's there wherever I go. I think a new sound just throws you even if you have habituated for quite some time. No chance of audiology appointments right now of course which doesn't help.

I'm in the same boat. A new lower pitch hum, that sounds like a distant motor that pulsates. When I plug my ear it seems to go away. I particularly hear it at night, when my head hits the pillow. I'm suspicious of the timing. It coincides with the outroll of the G5 network, but also the corona virus. Might be stress?

Here's hoping. I've had T for a long time and it never went away even for a second. If I press my ear sometimes it can go for quite a while. But then again T can present in many different ways I guess.
