Anyone had tinnitus so catastrophic and booming loud that it vibrates their head and feels like your head is a speaker ? Have had tinnitus so loud it felt dangerous and I wanted to go to the hospital to get knocked out unconscious by drugs. Not sure what to do. What do you do when it's that loud? My doctor wont give me more clonazepam so I vant take any.

Anyone had a very very loud low frequency vibrating tinnitus?
Good morning. I had absolutely catastrophic level tinnitus starting in January this year. So not that long ago. I was suicidal for weeks and then got put under the crisis mental health team, who were absolutely amazing. A combination of antidepressants, diazepam and promethazine at night got me through. As well as help from my family. It was the most hideous time of my life but I promise you things won’t always be like they are now for you. Please speak to your GP again. You need some support with this. Keep posting and getting support here as well.
How did you get to sleep with super loud vibrating tinnitus or super loud head filling tinnitus?
Oh sorry I see you took medication. The noise is bugging me so much I can't concentrate.
I use sound app at night aswell. I use resound tinnitus relief. There are many you can choose from
Hey its not possible the tumeric circumin pills where I took 30 of them for relief made it so much worse did it? Or could this catastrophic level be a terrible spike?
Possibly both. You wanna be careful with any desperate measures (such as supplements or alcohol) as they will just make it worse. No doubt about it.
Yep. I have it every few weeks and I ignore it. It’s the only way I can get through. My tinnitus has become background noise minus the odd hiccup. It is almost always at 10 volume but always background noise.
At the beginning when I first got tinnitus, I did used to feel like my whole head was vibrating. It used to really stress me out. But now looking back on it I think it may have been connected to the build of an anxiety attack. Once I became habituated to it, I noticed the vibrations in my head had gone (though the ringing was still there 🤦🏽♀️ Unfortunately) now I’ve had a relapse and I’m going through it all over again. Speaking from personal experience it really helps to try and NOT fixate on it as that will just make the tinnitus seem much more worse than it actually is Leading to stress and anxiety. And like another user says it really helps to talk about it. What really helped was being referred to a tinnitus specialist, I know in the current coronavirus pandemic that may be hard. They help you to cope with tinnitus. What got me through it the first and I hope it will help me again is to train your brain to ignore the noise. Action hearing loss have some very helpful tips.
Hi Annie07, I’m having ongoing problems with pulsatile tinnitus. I see you spoke to a tinnitus specialist. How did you go about finding him/her? Did you go through your Doctor? I’d be interested to know. Thank you, Julie.
Hi Julie,
Sorry to hear that you’re having problems with your pulsatile tinnitus. Yeah, I went to the doctors who referred me to an ENT. The ENT checked my ears and cleaned them. I had hearing tests and a scan. Everything came back clear so I was referred to the tinnitus clinic at my local hospital. The tinnitus therapist was very helpful, and it contributed a great deal towards me being able to cope mentally with the tinnitus. I hope that your situation improves for you!
Thank you. I have an appointment at the hearing clinic in the Hospital in 2 weeks so hopefully something will come of it. I recently had an MRI to check the blood vessels which came back clear, and an MRI last year to check the internal auditory meatus which just showed sinusitis. Nothing has been shown that might cause my tinnitus, but it’s still bad, so I feel a bit at a dead end at the moment.
Thank you for your reply and it’s good to know there’s help out there! Julie.
Hi Julie,
I hope your appointment goes well. I too had an MRI scan but it came back clear. Like yourself, there was no underlying cause for my tinnitus, which was very frustrating to say the least (so I can understand your situation). I imagine pulsatile tinnitus is worse, does noise block it out?
Annie
Hi Annie, noise blocks it to some extent but not completely. It feels like it’s inside my head not from my ears. I even heard it over the sound of the MRI machine. During the day when I’m working and talking to people I’m not really aware of it, so distraction works. A clear MRI is a good sign so I’m hanging on to that. I understand there are various sorts of tests apart from an MRI (with or without contrast), cranial angiogram etc, my Doctors aren’t very interested or informed so I have to push for everything. Would be good to keep in touch if you feel like writing again. Julie
Wow, so sorry to hear that! I didn’t realise it was that bad. I feel like doctors don’t really understand the impact tinnitus has on your health. Even people in general who don’t have it, they don’t really understand how it changes your life. I’m really glad to hear that all your tests came back clear, I know how frustrating it is not having any answers. I’m not sure if they have had success towards developing a cure as I don’t like to look and build my hopes up. But I really hope they do soon. It’s been really nice talking to you!
yes when woke up this morning its so loud
