I saw my consultant (actually nurse practitioner) on the same day I had my hearing test. I had audiology first then consult after. Hearing aids come quite a while after - think my hearing test was April and got my aid end of June. I would imagine private hearing aids would be much quicker - but they are very expensive- and if they don't work for you - you are stuck with them. I actually have a hearing aid that doesn't work for me and ended up having to get a second opinion privately - but that's another story!
were did u get the hering from that didn't work
I would definitely get them through the NHS. If anything goes wrong they are repaired. You get free batteries as well. Tried hearing aids from specsavers, think they were about £2k, but nowhere near as good as NHS ones.
Because I've got a long history of t and hearing loss, I can phone my audiologist and I normally get seen in a couple of days. I'm very lucky in that respect.
Having problems at the moment as had a special test done to see how sound reacts on ear drums and my aids were altered to match that, but it's made my hearing worse and t seems louder. That was on Friday and I'm going back tomorrow to get them reset to original programme.
