New sound/ noise in my ear, upon awakening.

I recently posted about taking the anti biotic doxycycline, and reported how it’s made my tinnitus worse, I am extremely stressed.

I noticed this morning on awakening, a new noise that frightened me, it was a completely different sound , that lasted around 15 seconds , that eventually turned in to my normal tinnitus sound. Has anyone else experienced this changeover sound , from sleep to awaking.

I have changes throughout 24 hours. I do experience short intervals that sound like something heavy being dropped?

I get this myself sometimes although not all the time. A loud 'ringing' in one ear that lasts for a short time then gets back to my normal tinnitus sound.

Hi there

I’ve had tinnitus from birth I think and totally understand your issues. I learned maybe 10 or so years ago have hearing loss most prob from birth as was never tested. As far as remember I have had big swarm bees in both ears making very difficult to hear talk and blocks out small sounds. I accepted as kid but sometimes suddenly it went like a siren going off in both ears and I went totally deaf. This would last maybe for an hour before I could hear things again but sometimes up to 2 weeks when I couldn’t hear anything. Always returned to just normal loud bees in head. Yes sometimes a pain as quite loud but used to it now.

The very loud screaming or siren sound in both ears just happens and can’t explain and yes sometimes is frightening as feel totally deaf but always goes back to normal.

This forum has been of comfort to me as I’ve never talked about this with others and am sure you find comfort to know you not on own. This condition I think has mind if own but I know I learn that some medications can cause or make tinnitus worse but we all unique.

Explore the forum as am sure many have same experiences and hopefully the increased volume will subside as does for many..

I wish you well and please let me know how things go for you.

Kind regards julia
