Hi Craw, well at least your other health problems have eased. At our ages there’s always something isn’t there?!

Tinnitus is a mystery to me too. Odd that a grilling set it off - I thought I had misread and thought it was “drilling” which would be understandable!

My T is louder when I wake up and gradually quietens after my hearing aid goes in and I get busy.

Driving on motorways sets it off but I know that it will settle after a while.

So, a good night’s sleep and keeping busy work for me. I got fed up of listening to counsellors, who didn’t have and couldn’t understand T, advising me as to what I should do. But, we all have our own ways so I hope you find quieter times soon, which you know will happen.

Have a fab Christmas in your beautiful and friendly part of our country. I am hoping to be there in the spring of next year.

Love

Angela xx

Yay Craw, nice to see you're still fighting the good fight, well not nice but you know what I mean! It makes me laugh what these so called experts come out with! It kinda tells me they have no comprehension of T at all! As soon as I wake up it's there screaming away until I go to bed! I don't have to look for it, search for it, think about it! So as for pre-empting it and monitoring it, I just don't believe it! At least I don't get spikes but I just wish it would shut up once in a while or at least subside a little. Still, we're best mates and do absolutely everything together BFF lol. Have a great Xmas. Xene

I like your statement that you don't have to search for it, I wonder if some people who suffer with T have to search for it, I can't remember if I did in the beginning but after 20 years I certainly never search for it anymore.

Yay andyb_1969, after a couple of years on here it always makes me wonder why anyone in their right mind would want to search/look for something that is so loud and so awful! I guess we're all different and 'ours is not to reason why' All I know is the day I wake up without it I'll be cracking open the champagne but after 30 years I'm not holding my breath lol. Wishing you a merry Xmas and happy new year. Xene

Hi Craw,

These so called professionals really take the biscuit. Most of them don't have tinnitus themselves but they dole out all this guff about "premepting it" and " listening for it".

The last time I visited the audiologist, she said I was listening for it and to try and avoid doing that. How the hell can I NOT listen for it or to it or avoid it, when it is right in my head going like a steam train 24/7. If any of them actually had severe tinnitus themselves, I wonder if they would take their own advice!

hi jim, your absoultely 100% bang on!!!!!!!!!!! to me the specialists arent very special!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and they all seem to think that all of us are lostening out for something tht any normal person would ignore and its down to our mental state that were" listening for it" its about time these"specialists" got theyre act together and really investigated how to handle it without cracking up!!!! as i know ive been very close to it and turned to my friend william grant for some solace he has other pals that helped like john walker, and i went some birdwatching to look for the famous grouse and found it, which sometimes does help abit! the specialists really arent very special! hang in there mate and stay cool and TRY and have a merry xmas and orra best for the new year! maybe this will be the one they make some kind of steps towards help for T. cheers craw.
