Hi everyone, do you think there is a link between Menopause and lack of estrogen? Just asking your views on this. I was prescribed HRT at 41 yearss old and on it for 14 years. T started 4/5 years later.
Also....the T was quiet yesterday and is today but last 2 weeks had spikes. Do you have no T then yours spike unexpectedly?

Hi Pink6- Yes I think so and I wonder if the fall in oestrogen affects T . Mine got louder at the start of the perimenopause - and has remained so. It doesn't ever go quiet but it does spike regularly . Strange beast - as you say .
Have you habituated doglover1973? I hope the scientist will discover a cure for all one day. Mine comes for a day or more and then goes completely. I'm experiencing peace today. Touch wood!
That's good news Pink6- Make the most of all the quiet days! I'm at stage three of habituation and hope I might eventually reach stage four. How about you?
Hi Penny. I read about the four stages of habituation last summer. Here they are : cbtfortinnitus.com/stages-o... You can easily pinpoint where you are .
Hi Doglover1973? It's good to know you're managing T. I'm also curious about the different stages of habituation. I'd like to get to a 'stage' where everyday is a peace day. Does that mean that because the brain is so malleable that you're building new neuropathways in the brain by de-focussing on the T and focusing more on say nature sounds?
Hi Pink6- Please see the link above. I think once you get to stage four you feel at peace with T . Perhaps someone who's got there could confirm . I've used sound therapy, relaxation techniques & CBT to help myself but in the end the brain does the work - as you say . It no longer sees T as a threat.
Interesting idea re oestrogen and T. I guess any change in hormone levels upsets the balance of other things, with our bodies being so finely tuned.
Not sure if my T is connected to a drop in oestrogen. I wonder if it could have been triggered by a trapped nerve, though.
Re habituation, again I have no idea if there is any official stages but I mostly don't notice mine. Whether it is a physical or mental thing, I don't know.
Yes. I firmly believe that starting menopause exacerbated my T. I used to get mini bouts prior to menopause which never really bothered me. Now, 6 years in, it's terrible and with other symptoms. Seeing an ENT specialist on March 22. Can't come quickly enough 😔😔
