Tinnitus after ear syringing?

Hello,

10 days ago I got my ears syringed by an ENT at a hospital. He took out a piece of skin that hurt a lot. Since then I have visited another two ENTs who have told my that my ears and hearing are fine, and that my tinnitus is unrelated to the sryinge procedure. I'm on prednisone, and that has seemed to make the ringing stop or have a low pitch even, so it makes it more tolerable.

Do you think it may go away?

Hello and welcome to the British Tinnitus Association forum. Do feel free to ask any questions, I hope that you find this a helpful and supportive place to help you manage your tinnitus.

Tinnitus does generally get better over time. And even if it doesn’t go away completely, it can get to a level where it isn’t intrusive, and it isn't noticeable - in the same way you probably don’t really notice traffic noise when you walk down the street.

The time tinnitus takes to disappear or reduce in intensity varies from person to person, but there are some tips and techniques you can do to help.

We have some resources that you might like to check out in addition to our home here:

Hi Have you not been advised the syringing can make your tinnitus worse and is not good for you I get my ears micro suctioned which may or not be available on the NHS and to keep wax clear of ears is regularly put olive oil in once a day mainly at night 2 or 3 times a week and avoid getting any water in your ears even when showering or swimming to avoid ear infections which will as I know will increase the loudness of your tinnitus so ears waxed up will make your tinnitus louder.
