combination hearing aids?
Hi Whywouldi.
Below is a link the BTA website that explain combination hearing aids and other information that you might find helpful. Normally these devices prescribed by NHS once you are assessed for suitability. I use white noise generators that have built in hearing aids. The hearings aids were disabled via computer, by my Audiologist at the time I was fitted, because I don't have hearing loss.

Hello there
Michael has kindly signposted you to our page on hearing aids, and I'm just popping up to flag that only this week I added a new article taken from our Annual Tinnitus Research Review all about hearing aids and combination devices ...

It doesn't mention the cost, but the good news is that they are now quite widely available on the NHS. Privately you are looking at about £2000 each.
Warmest wishes

Hello,
I was fitted with a hearing aid for the first time yesterday - this was at the UCH Ear, nose and throat hospital in London. This is a normal hearing aid with the aim to correct hearing loss in my left ear to see if it improves or helps the tinnitus in that ear also - bit strange first of all but I'm hoping once I get used to it that the tinnitus may reduce.
They suggested when I go back in April to see if there is improvement, they may try me with a combination device to see i that helps - what I was wondering is if the combination device is likely to reduce hearing in that ear - but either way if the tinnitus is reduced I will be happy!
best wishes
Neal
hi Neal ,i have been wearing the NHS hearing aids for several years, and they are a great help in reducing T volume, i was hoping the combination device would mask the pulsatile tinnitus in my right ear
Thanks for your reply - It's early days yet for myself as I have only been using the hearing aid for a few days and haven't noticed a reduction in the tinnitus yet, but I intend to stick with it to see what happens. I have noticed an improvement in hearing though which is a result!
Hope you manage to find a way to reduce your pulsating tinnitus.
best
Neal
one hearing aid is no good Neal, you need to wear both to get the T volume down,i know ive been there
That's interesting to know - they seemed to think that the actual hearing loss in my other ear wasn't enough to need a 2nd one. But I will certainly mention this when I go back in April.
Thanks for mentioning this.
