Has anybody found anything to help their tinnitus??

Mine started after my ear felt blocked, i went the gp who found no signs of infection or blockage, my ear started to crack and eventually popped leaving me with a buzz. I had an MRI scan which brought nothing up or traces of infection.

My tinnitus is mistery but its doing my head in!

Any tips?

Hello

Yes, it’s annoying always there but there are things you can do to help first of all try not to concentrate on your Tinnitus I what you’re thinking but Tinnitus likes a quiet environment it breeds on it which in turn causes anxiety. Just try to relax make sure there’s some noise your brain will slowly start to lose interest in your Tinnitus and push it into the background the one thing Tinnitus likes is quiet at night try relaxation apps just below your Tinnitus this will help believe it or not I use an old fan and normally get a good night’s sleep it’s trial and error just try what’s good for you there will be times when tinnitus gets loud or the frequency gets high but it does quieten down but there will more good days then bad take it on and beat it you’ll be surprised

I think they'd be very rich if there was a cure!

I wish there was mine is so loud 24/7 and it doesn't care if it's quiet surroundings or not , the NHS ENT are useless, in my case, everyone says you'll get used to it and like will go on but nearly 8 months and I'm still not used to it!It has ruined my life!

Yes it's unbearable. Mine they say is due to my 'balance' nerve being destroyed by a viral infection, so that affected my confidence as to walking because I wobble like a drunk so I put on 36 lb, so all in all a complete nightmare, just wish the ent doctors were interested! Not being funny but it's nice to know others are in the same situation with this dreadful screeching 24/7. Good luck.

My partner suggested the ear candle treatment - i am very unsure on this though!

Please, whatever you do, don't do that - it can be dangerous, the the US Food and Dirnk administration have warned strongly against it - and the Hopi people have disassociated themselves from the practice.

You may want to check out the BTA free tinnitus e-programme at takeontinnitus.co.uk which will give you lots of strategies for managing your tinnitus successfully.

If you'd like to speak to someone, the BTA has a free helpline staffed by specially trained advisers on 0800 018 0527.

Best wishes
