Evening all, struggling a bit at the moment, just wondering what everyone does on the bad days to take your mind off things/feel better. Cannot seem to stop thinking about my T and it's driving me demented, need some tips-Bev x

Hi Bev, have you got white noise maskers? Been a godsend for me on bad days like today. Good luck, Steve

Hi Steve, no I haven't, I only got standard hearing aids a week ago, they do quieten it a lot but because it's quieter my brain seems to be 'searching' for it all the more! Today has been bad from the off though.

Would I ask audiology about maskers? Sorry you've had a bad day too-Bev x

Hi Bev, yep, you should be able to get them ok on the NHS, my audiologist gave me mine without me asking. I'm under the Royal Berkshire in Reading but I do know certain nhs trusts adopt a different approach. mine are pure maskers, but I believe there are devices combined with HA's. I think for me having that sound distracts my brain from the racket in my head, making it more bearable...the analogy I use is they're like glasses for my ears! Good luck, Steve x

Keeping sound on around you that is relaxing will help and a window open if not to cold.

Nice treats and plan somthing nice to do in a few days to look forward too...

Maskers and hearing aids can help also and us guys on here to cheer you up..

i have found that paying more attention to my breathing helps not all the time but when things get frustrating also notice the not so deep breathing rythmn seems to help the noise level around they might call it being in ones centre but its the little small tricks from time to time that i find help espesically when it gets to the above normal level hope this helps ..

Hello and thank you. I definitely need to work on some relaxation techniques, stress and being tense definitely makes tinnitus worse-Bev x

Hi, I have a sound machine on all the time, and it helps especially at nighttime. I also keep noise on in the house, radio or a tv. Getting outside helps me too. Hope you find some good ideas and some relief! XOXO Bee

Hi Bee, I always have sound around me in the day, it helps being a big music lover, but without my hearing aids in it's very difficult to mask the noise.

Since getting my hearing aids I've discovered the extractor fan in my kitchen helps a lot! Can't hear it without them in - Bev x

Hi Bev, yes, enjoying music helps a lot too. I have found my kitchen sink faucet helps me, so I now do all the dishes by hand! and I actually enjoy it! XOXO
