I am thinking of trying Armour as an alternative to T4 only. Should I tell my GP? I am on 100mcg of levothyroxine a day. Which grain size would I need to take and how would I go about doing it?
How do you move from taking T4 only to Armour? - Thyroid UK
How do you move from taking T4 only to Armour?
Armour is a prescription only hormone. Most GP's wont prescribe unless an Endo has asked him too. Maybe if you ask your GP if you could have a trial of Armour he may be willing to use the 'named patient prescription form'. If not you could have a private consultation with a sympathetic doctor (email louise.warvill@thyroiduk for details). i.e. 1 grain is approx 65mcg.

Thank you very much shaws. Will try the GP for "named patient prescription form". Wish me luck!

If your GP doesn't agree, you could bypass your doctor and buy some. Many of us are treating ourselves with better results. Send me a private message and I will point you in the right direction. There are a lot of tables online so you can find equivalent doses. x
