Hi my doctor usually order's tft blood tests and sometimes tft2. Will these show the full blood result for thyroid I.e. t3 etc?

I know that TFT is thyroid function test however many hospitals will stop at just TSH if it's in range, some if you are lucky will also do fT4, fT3 almost always has to be requested specifically or it will not be done.

I don't know what TFT2 is sorry

Thanks nobodysdriving. I have requested a print out of my test results from my surgery so will see what is on there. My doc only ever refers to TSH so maybe that is where it stops ! it would be 'in range' becuase I am on levo 175mcg the form does state 'on levo'

Hi If he will not or cannot do Free T3 ask him if you can pay for him to do this with the TSH and T4, some people manage this, usually costs about £10., this way. You definitely need them for a proper diagnosis and treatment.

That's interesting. When I asked my GP for a FT3 test, he looked on his computer and said it would cost another £12 and I was so delighted that he was going to do it I said "I'd pay for that myself if I could" and he said "You can't." I wonder why.

MY GP had near hysterics when I asked, I have to use Blue Horizon, not worth the hassle!
