I was diagnosed auto-immune Hypo in September 2012. I apparently now have "normal" range everything but only 4 of my 30 symptoms have subsided.. I have gone back to work 3 days a week in a really junior job but am struggling with even that, very tired in the afternoon and dreadful short term memory issues that make me feel someone has stolen 40% of my IQ. I have just changed GPs because my original one told me I was fine... and am going to see the new one tomorrow.. I want a referral to an Endo because I am certainly not fine and need to get my life back.. Does anyone have a good word to say about a sympathetic endo centre in the midlands who will test my adrenal and pituitary stuff and not doubt my own assertion that I am not fit enough yet for 5 days work and need to be..?
Can anyone recommend an ENDO centre in the Mid... - Thyroid UK
Can anyone recommend an ENDO centre in the Midlands..?
I dont think we are allowed to give out Drs names, I was given a link to find one, supplied below

I dont know how good they are on this list in your area..
Answers by message is preferred please. But if anyone does have the name of a 'good' NHS endo, please drop me an email - I am compiling a list to email to people. Thanks!

I am not going to name names, so I hope this is OK, but I would not recommend travelling to Coventry. The Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism Centre there is solely geared up for the treatment of diabetes and they have put it in writing that they cannot offer any continuity. I have been going every three months for over three years, see a different doctor most times and am now back where I started.
I’m looking for another endo and have asked on various forums, but no-one’s ever come back with a suggestion, which indicates to me that they are all as bad as each other!

I can only sympathise.
My own experiences there have been nothing but obstructive, not just lack of help, but positive obstruction to getting well! (and that was NOT just Thyroid issues)
I could go on, but for the sake of my own well-being, I will resist!
Ohh now thank you for that gem. I was just looking up as the one Im under is also all diabetic this and that, and for my thyroid its a case of heres your blood forms for next tests, take your meds as is and see me in 6 months, bye.
Honestly I feel like taking a stop watch in with me just to see if he slows down.
So avoid a Hinckley Hospital one too.
I've had no joy at all with endos in the Midlands - I also have auto-immune thyroiditis, but as my TSH was not out of the reference range I couldn't get treatment on the NHS or even with a private endo. I've been seeing a practitioner on the TUK list of recommended doctors - but these ar all private. My TPO has reduced considerably and is now clsoe to normal. I feel much better but I still have one or two symptoms.
Have you checked your iron and selenium levels as they could be involved here? I know that my iron levels are still low (although just in the reference range). Ideally ferritin levels should be in the range 70-90.Your GP could perhaps arrange tests for these. Although the NHS considers "normal" to be around 29.
You could get a rough indication of whether or not your adrenals are struggling by getting your GP to measure your blood pressure sitting (or lying) and then standing - when the adrenals are struggling the BP drops on standing. Also, you could try the Broda Barnes basal temperature test - see TUK website or google it. If your temperature is below normal and level, that is a good indicator of a struggling thyroid. If it is low and varies then both thyroid and adrenals are struggling.
Good Luck!
