Does anyone with Hashi's and P anaemia also have inflammatory bowel disease?

If so, how is it managed/treated and how do you cope with having all these conditions?

I don't have hashis but I do have PA and IBS, I don't have medication for my IBS I'm trying to control it myself but the last couple of days its been really bad.

I have tried to eliminate certain foods but can't seem to pinpoint what flares it up. Think I might have to go back to the drs.

Sorry couldn't be much help.

I have Hashi's, Crohns - in remmission - and low B12 due to not having the Terminal Ileum where B12 is absorbed in the intestine.

Was only diagnosed in 2005 at 58 - so lots of horrible years of poorliness. Thanks to this site I have learnt loads in a year and have improved my health. I take 25 mcg T3 x 4.....1000mcg chewable B12 ( result now around 600 ) 3000 Iu's D3 but still low at 36....and many other vitamins !

It's just a thought - but as your body recovers with thyroid treatment it just could be that the Parietal Cells in the stomach lning could recover sufficiently to secrete some intrinsic factor that binds to the B12 food molecules and transports it onwards to the terminal ileum. Low thyroid = low metabolism in all the cells of the body, leading to slow metabolism within the parietal cells of the stomach lining too. I'm no expert - it's just a thought.

There is a great deal of excellent information on the net about auto-immune disease and it would seem that it all starts in the gut. Leaky Gut Syndrome ? So it's a tough call to deal with it as the diet has to be restricted and dealt with to heal the gut. There are good sites like Dr Sarah Myhill and also Dr Natasha Campbell-McBride. The latter has written a very good book too. Try easy-immune-health.com too for lots of interesting reading. Also going gluten free can help some albeit I am not one of those - although I do not overload on it.

Wishing you well and keep on reading........

Thanks for answering, g-free since aug 12. Helped initially but now i seem to have the same old gut problems
