How much is too much thyroxine
Welcome to the site hh46.
I'm no expert and I'm sure others will post but I do know that a highly respected private doctor who helps many thyroid patients has said that these kind of levels were routinely prescribed before the dreaded TSH test replaced many doctors ability to treat according to symptoms. I think there are a few people on here who are taking what some GPs and Endos would class as a 'high' dose and have improved health.
I assume you are worried about this dose? How do you feel - that is most important? If it is too high then symptoms of hyperthyroidism will develop as a warning and full thyroid blood tests (TSH, FT4 and FT3) can help as a guidance.
Do you have any blood test results with the reference ranges that you can post on here for more advice? This will help to better answer your questions.
Had my thyroid removed totally 9 years ago feel like crap tired hairloss weight gain (huge).doctor is doing nothing waited 4 year to see endo to be told NOTHING OF ANY USE. ASKED FOR 2ND OPINION AND WAS TOLD OK??? BUT IT WOULD BE WITH HIM AGAIN. .. Sick fed up with it all
Horrible but sad to say this is par for the course for many - but please do not give up hope because there are some good doctors out there - you need to find the right one and have a plan of action. Easy to say when you are feeling so rotten but just a few suggestions:
1. Get copies of all your blood test results and post them here - don't take no for an answer. It is often surprising what people can find out from this and can start to help get a rounded picture. If they are not prepared to help you get your health back they should not complain when you want to take control.
2. Have you been tested for ferritin, folate, B12 vitamin D as a starter? Deficiencies in these are very common in thyroid patients and add to and also confuse the symptoms
3. Could you go to a private Endo? Thyroid UK has a list of recommended doctors who know how to treat properly and have helped many people on here.
4. Are you on any other medication or supplements that may have contraindications with your thyroxine or cause other symptoms?
5. What time of day are you taking your thyroxine and are you taking it just with a glass of water and at least 30 minutes before any food or drinks such as tea and coffee and supplements?
Sorry to pose more questions back to you especially as you are understandably fed up but it can really help to move things forward....
Great advice above. If you are in a position to see a private doctor, you can ask for the list that Thyroid UK holds by filling in the form on this link

I hope you get it sorted out soon

Do you have an unusual diet? E.g. lots of raw vegetables? Or soy products?
Several things do interfere with absorption and use of thyroid hormones.
