i get very lightheaded and dizzy i am underactive thyroid anyone else have these symptoms regards brenda
Yes I did but they are much better now that I am well-medicated. Do you have your latest thyroid test results? If so please could you post them on here together with the ranges (these need to come from your own report as they vary by lab). Hopefully this will shed some light on things and we can offer you some helpful suggestions. xx
these are the only test results i have to date as i have never asked for them before joining thyroid uk T4 12.9(9-19.1) TSH 4.34 (0.35- 5.0) have just upped my eltroxin to 75mcg to lowerTSH to 2.5 that was 2weeks ago am i expecting too much too soon regards brenda
Well it's good that you have had an increase and it takes about 6-8 weeks for the new dose to reach it's full potential in your blood, so these symptoms may improve over the next few weeks.
I think you should go back for another blood test once you have been on this dose for 6 weeks and see how things look then. Hopefully your doctor will treat based on elimination of symptoms as well as blood tests though.
By the way, most people don't feel well until their TSH is under 1 xx
thankyou so much kind thoughts brenda oh how i wish i had joined you 3 years ago when i first became unwell have fought gps and endo eversince. you wont be surpeised to know they all tell me itsDEPRESSION,
forgive e for asking another question what do you mean by THESE NEED TO COME FROM YOU OWN REPORT AS THEY VARY BY LAB not sure what you mean regards brenda
Reference ranges vary depending on the lab. For example, if Clarebears lab has a range for T4 that is something like 12-25 (don't know if that is her actual range ) but the reference range for my T4 tests is 7.8-14.4. this is quite a difference! As you can see, without the reference range a result of 12 could be right at the bottom if your reference range is like Clarebears, or near the top of the range if your range is the same as mine. You have provided yours in your response, so we are able to know if your results are good or not
It's to do with the methods that the individual labs use for measuring these results.
I hope that clarifies it a bit
yes it does thanks i will leave you alone i think until something else pops in to my mind kind regards brenda
Hi Carolyn, I have a mental block on these reference ranges.
Yours is 7.8-14.4, mine are 12- to 20. My results range increasingly over last 2 yrs. between 16 and 19 NORMAL.!!! but at your lab I would be OTT.
I understand how ref. ranges are obtained and distrbution calculated. What I can't seem to get my head around is the huge differences.
Eg. if lab A measure 50 g of salt in a sample, in my brain fogged mind, Labs BCD adinfinitum should also meassure 50 g. +/- experimental error on same sample.
Can you put light on my muddles thinking please?
