Anyone in Lambeth who is happy with their NHS GP and feels they understand thyroid and related issues?

I feel that my GP has listened to me carefully over the years and taken on board all the printed information I have given her. She has supervised my armour treatment, prescribed by Dr Skinner, since 1998. She referred me to an endocrinologist recently and I have been prescribed T3 but it does not agree with me like armour. My next step will be to see if I can get armour on the NHS, because if the Trust is happy to pay for T3, then why not armour? If I can get armour on the NHS, I'll let you know! If not, it isn't too expensive via Pharmarama and at least I am in control of how much I take this way. My endo declared me 'in fine fettle' on armour but wouldn't prescribe it giving it all the old excuses like 'it might differ from batch to batch' etc etc etc.Yet he asked me if I was getting it on the NHS.

Back to your question, I do think my GP is understanding but I have had to fight my corner over the years! I was actually asked to give a little talk to some medical students at my practise a few years ago, about thyroid issues!!! So my GP obviously does respect my small amount of knowledge that I have gained. However I am still the only person in the practise on T3!! My local pharmacist was very shocked when I handed him my prescription.

Janjan, thanks so much for your feedback. Pls do keep us posted, especially if you manage to get NDT on NHS prescription.
