I was diagnosed with under active thyroid 3 years ago and am currently taking 125mg of thyroxine. The problem I have is that regardless of how much I watch what I eat I am stil pilling on the weight, I have never been this heavy. Has anybody got any advice on what I can do to help loose weight.

If you get a copy of your blood test results complete with the ranges (as labs differ) post her and someone will comment.
Many have problems with weight gain and it is a hypothyroid symptom but if you are on optimum meds (preferably with the addition of some T3) your metabolism will be raised and the weight should gradually come off. The trouble is many GP's do not know this. This is a link and their are other topics which may be of interest at the top of the page.
I have lost 3 stones at long last with thanks to not only following a low calorie diet but also taking Nutri-Thyroid, Nutri-Adrenal, selenium, CoQ10 and vitamin B12. Interestingly on days when I forget to take the tablets, my weight stays the same even it is low calorie. So the supplements are helping but I have had to experiment to see which works and what I am taking works for me.
hi where can I get the nutri-thyroid, nutri-adrenal,selenium from as I am really struggling with my weight, I am careful with food and I did go to the gym even though it tired me out and left me exhausted, to which after all them efforts I gained another stone lol, I would be grateful if ya could let me know, thanks , claire
I got the Nutri supplements on the Nutri centre website and the rest from Solgar and other reputable manufacturer not Holland & Barrett!. What I have found also is to avoid stress and to be more relaxed about the whole thing. It took me a long while to work it out. I have another 4stones to lose so that was the amount I put on over a number of years. Start with the supplements and check your weight at regular intervals to see which foods you ate the day before works for you or not. Good luck!
thank you, I am trying with the stress bit am seeing a councillor to help me because sort of freaked out at one point because I couldn't understand what was going on with my body and head, I have had thyroid problems for about 5 years now.
