Just been diagnosed with massive underactive thyroid.
You're not crazy! and not alone!
I had panic attacks, tremors etc. think I was hyper maybe, (scarey)
but if you're now underactive? - I really don't know
(Just hate seeing unanswered posts)
perhaps if you posted latest blood levels other folks can chip in & help you..
all the best Jane x
I'm underactive, 25g is a very low dose and if your still not feeling well and they need to increase it you will not begin to feel better until they do, sadly to say I've been underactive for 12 years and still have bad days but I'm not saying you won't get better but you need to be taking the right dose and be prepared it can take around 6 months before you feel better, spareribs is right on her comment wright down your blood results and someone should be able to tell you or help out, it's not nice when your ill and can't do anything to help yourself out or not knowing how to, hope things improve good luck xx
I'm 17 and have had an under active thyroid for 1 year now. I take 75mg on Levothyroxine daily but I was on 100mg. I get palpitations of my heart, hair loss, poor nails, sores on my lips and tiredness/weakness however as each problem comes up I sort it with my doctor- 25mg is a low dose and so is 50mg so nothing to worry about there just go for it- it will help you.
Could be that by taking the 50mcg or 25mcg, you are getting even less thyroid hormone than you made naturally. Read Peter Warmingham's theory on Thyroid UK website.
Until I found this site I felt I was totally alone with my symptoms, but you will get so much support and help from others in the same boat. It all helps.
Initially I started off with 25mcg of Levothyroxine, for 6 weeks, up to my present dose of 150mcg, I had blood tests after each 6 weeks. I can`t say I`m, 100% but certainly better than before.
Same here, I started on low dose and even ended up at 175mcg but now down to 150mcg and get tested yearly now but if i don't feel right for a long period of time I go to my doctor and ask them to check blood and levels.
Weight gain, hair loss is a problem for me. Sore wrists and aches and pains. When I was pregnant they thought I had carpal tunnel syndrome and did lots of tests but they could not find anything. I now know that all the problems I had must have been related to my under active thyroid.
I have terrible problems problem with hairloss, I personally think it is the Thyroxine that causes this, my Dr says not! To be honest it affects my whole waking day, I really don`t know what the answer is.
I have gained 2stone in two years, and find it impossible to lose.
I also had hair loss amongst other things. This link helped me and the endo added T3.
I also saw a dermatologist and had steroid injections into scalp. My hair has returned.
Hi I know what your feeling and saying, I had panic attacks, tremors and I am now on 175mg of thyroxine. Your not going mad. I have had hair loss also and have put on over 4 stone in weight. I feel I still have the same problems and pain. I am sure you will feel better once your dose is upped.
