Is anyone else taking Gabapentin for the aches and pains in their muscles supposedly caused by thyroid probs?

Hi Sally,
I was on Gabapentin for a few years and to be honest it did little or nothing for me.I got my adrenals tested by doing a Saliva Stress Index test and it came back that my adrenal glands were at stage 6 adrenal fatigue (stages goes from 1 mild - 7 barely functioning ).
Adrenal problems can cause muscular aches and pains also but unfortunately the NHS does not recognise them and will probably only do a single blood cortisol level which isn't much use (i definitely know this as i now get a copy of every result, letter etc from my Gp,and on the cortisol result the lab had written "single serum draw not useful in clinical diagnosis...doh! ).My gp refused to accept the results but Dr Skinner was more willing to try steroids as we felt that my thyroid was well replaced (even though i don't have a thyroid problem according to the NHS Endo).
Started on a low dose of Prednisolone and felt quite well and they did make a big difference to my aches and pains but i still couldn't totally get rid of them.
My Gp has become more mellow and has allowed me to try a newer, purer from of gabapentin called Pregablin and so far i'm now on 200mgs twice a day and it does seem to be helping.
It is hard to know whether its thyroid related or adrenal related aches and pains but both conditions do cause pain.Hope this helps.
