i am so tired............

I seriously want to cry! There's too many ups and downs all of the time. One minute I feel ok and the next, the heart palpitations have returned, as have the sweats and the extreme tiredness, the tremors and feeling anxious. And for someone with Graves Disease, I sure am piling on the weight, almost 4 stone now since November. I'm due back at the hospital on Monday for blood tests, and a telephone consultants appointment on Wednesday. My question is can I insist that they look deeper into my thyroid problems? I've had monthly blood tests but nothing else. Surely, they have to scan the thing and see what's going on in there? I'm starting to worry that they may have got this all wrong.

ask for them to test for anitbodies... hashimotos??

Isn't that similar to an under active thyroid. Apparently I'm over-active although I'm starting to wonder if that's right.

maybe if you post your results a more experienced member may be able to shed some light...

I have hashimoto's and have the same symptoms as you... weight gain, always tired, brain fog, feeling anxious etc...

Maxine,

I assume you are aware that you can simultaneously have Hashimoto's and Graves?

Are you taking anything for the Graves? Such as PTU or methimazole or propranolol?

Do be aware that palpitations can and do occur in both hypo or hyper states.

It seems very difficult to gain the additional investigations you feel are called for. Partly this is because any pressure you try to apply could rebound. However I would simply ask for a scan and see how it goes. (Was that an ultrasound or MRI or something else?)

All the best

Rod

Hi all,

Have more blood tests next week so will post results when I get them.

Don't know much about Hashimoto's but what I've read on the net is scary! Am on Methimazole and Propranolol at the moment and am avoiding carbs as much as I can as it seems to make me more tired. I don't really know what to ask the docs for Rod, but will ask them for a scan and see what they say.
