This is my first post. I’ve been on Levo Thyroxine since 1991. When it was Eltroxin and came in a pill bottle, not a packet. And I felt so much better…and then came different packets & different brands. And I then felt unwell…getting a different brand for every prescription. I was told by different GP’s that it was me ( my constitution. So I just struggled on for years.Feeling better on one brand and crap on another. When I asked for a certain brand that actually made me feel good, I was told by a sniggering pharmacist that “ they’re all the same.Unfortunately I’m now in my 70’s and it’s only now that it’s being recognised that some people struggle with certain brands. So to date I’ve opted for Accord or Almus. Just hoping they’re both the same.

I'm in Australia and when Levothyroxine was prescribed for me my GP very specifically told me to only ever get "that brand" and never accept a different one. Very different advice! I hope you manage to get one that's right for you and can stick with it.
The constant gaslighting is absolutely f***ing infuriating 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

for links to some useful information re. how to get gp's to prescribe a specific brand in patients who experience problems when switching between brands .
re accord/almus .. be aware , that Accord is the tablet manufacturer , 'Almus' is basically just the box.
Almus 50mcg and 100mcg boxes do contain Accord Levothyroxine tablets .
But be aware that Almus 25mcg boxes contain Teva levothyroxine tablets. EDIT ~ correction ' Almus' don't do a 25mcg size .
(but the above information does applies to 'Hillcross' boxes of levothyroxine)
apologies .... that was incorrect , have now edited to correct .
'Almus' don't do a 25mcg size , so all Almus boxes do contain Accord tablets .
(but it's correct that 'Hillcross' 25mcg's are Teva )
No problem…I already knew that ,that’s why I cut a 50mcg in half. Bit of a faff ,but it is what it is. I take 100mcg 7 days + 25mcg 4 days. It’s the thing ps they don’t tell you which annoys me intensely. I been on as much as 200 mcg when I was on HRT many years ago.I’ve had to tweak my own doses over the years with no help from any so called medical professionals.Definitely can’t take Teva and Mercury Pharma gave me palpitations.
When you're 100% sure which brands do/ do not suit you, give this government document ot the surgery and your pharmacy, and request the brand/s are detailed on your records
