Sorry about the toilet talk!I'm currently taking BetterYou vit D+K2 spray=3 sprays 3000IU (morning) BetterYou vit B12 spray = 4 sprays 1200ug (morning) , Ferrous Fumarate 210mg x1 tab (mid/late afternoon) (depending how I feel I take 1 or 2 tablets a day of ferrous fumarate) and Levothyroxine 75mg (before bed)
I find myself making many more trips to the toilet as my bladder can't seem to hold it. Could this be the B12 spray? And I'm just getting rid of the excess. I haven't been taking all these meds long only since I was diagnosed back in February.

Pretty common, there’s a lot of mucin (jelly like substance in cells) to get rid of
It’s likely a good sign that your thyroid levels are improving
Retest 6-8 weeks after each dose change in levothyroxine
75mcg is low dose, unless extremely petite. You may be ready for next increase soon
Are you still on Teva or did you get Vencamil?
ALWAYS test early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
As you normally take levothyroxine at bedtime/in night ...adjust timings as follows prior to blood test
If testing Monday morning, delay Saturday evening dose levothyroxine until Sunday morning. Delay Sunday evening dose levothyroxine until after blood test on Monday morning. Take Monday evening dose levothyroxine as per normal
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
Looking at previous post
Your folate was also low
You should also be taking a daily vitamin B complex, one with folate in (not folic acid)
This can help keep all B vitamins in balance and will help improve B12 levels too
Then once your serum B12 is over 500 (or Active B12 level has reached 70), you may be able to reduce then stop the B12 and just carry on with the B Complex.
If Vegetarian or vegan likely to need ongoing separate B12 few times a week
Igennus B complex popular option. Nice small tablets. Most people only find they need one per day. But a few people find it’s not high enough dose and may need 2 per day and/or may need separate methyl folate couple times a week
Thorne Basic B recommended vitamin B complex that contains folate, but they are large capsules. (You can tip powder out if can’t swallow capsule) Thorne can be difficult to find at reasonable price, should be around £20-£25. iherb.com often have in stock. Or try ebay
IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 3-5 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results
In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate folate supplement (eg Jarrow methyl folate 400mcg) and continue separate B12 if last test result serum B12 was below 500 or active B12 (private test) under 70
Will the bladder settle? I hope so! 😂 I will add in B complex too. I'm currently taking 50mg (Teva) 25mg (Vencamil) I requested Vencamil when they upped my dosage, I've requested Vencamil only on all future prescriptions, if this will happen I do not know yet! My stomach has finally settled with what I'm taking now so that's good news. I am petite only 4ft 11 😂 I'm due more bloods in May but I think they will only check TSH and some other test for Pre-menopause.I have found a small lump in my throat which I need to be checked so will be booking in for that soon too.
I've never been back and forth to the doctors this many times before in my whole life! They must think I'm a hypochondriac!
I find that some brands of Vitamin B and Vit B complex can irritate my bladder (which is frustrating as I need to supplement quite often). Are you passing a large quantity or just getting the urge more often?
Hi there, if you are anaemic then you ought to have a blood test at the surgery to rule out pernicious anaemia, in which case you would be eligible to have a B12 shot on the NHS every three months or so. I found too much magnesium causes bowel problems rather than urinary issues. Try and get your bloods done first and come back to the experts on here for advice. Taking supplements willy nilly is not necessary unless your diet is restricted and you need topping up. It is quite a potential nightmare! Good luck!
