The Thyroid UK forum aims to empower members to advocate for themselves and supports building partnerships with medical professionals. This forum does not want to promote a culture which encourages avoidance of doctors and favours self-treatment.
Whilst we understand that individual members may share negative personal experiences with medical professionals and seek forum advice on ‘next steps’, we need to be mindful that our responses do not berate the medical profession as a whole.
Not all doctors are unhelpful or unkind, so we must not generalise. Thyroid UK has worked hard to be credible and accepted by doctors, so that we can work with them to try to make change in the diagnosis and treatment of thyroid disease. Members who reply with inflammatory language or in a persistently negative anti-medic tone will have their post edited.
