Lloyds pharmacy has switched to a new company, they have sent me Teva for my 50,s, I hafe always managed well on Accord. When checking the help advice it says you are unable to choose the brand you take. This was written on my script and I'm not sure if I should just try them. I still have my 100,s in Accord as I take 150 a day. How is Teva nowadays? Is mixing the brand ok? I'm quite anxious about switching as I've been on this brand for a long time.
Any tips welcome.

Hi I also take Teva and have had no issues. I can be quite dodgy with brands and meds in general having reactions but fingers crossed haven't had any issues. It's all down to personal choice. There's no harm in trying.
I had the same problem a while back, many if not all the online pharmacies now use an AI assistant, and they just electronically read the script and dispense what they have in stock, without any considerations to sensitivities or what brand name is written on the prescription. I have now switched to a local, physical pharmacy again and my GP writes "Accord levothyroxine only' on the prescription. When I go to the pharmacy, I open the meds package at the counter and see if the right brand was dispensed and if not, I hand it back. Once you leave the pharmacy, you have no comeback on that. It is a bit more faff, but only this way I can guarantee the brand I do tolerate.
There are some people that get on okay with Teva, but I think a lot do not, due to the filler, even though it is lactose free. You could try to see how you get on, but in the future, you may have to switch to a pharmacy, where you can have a bit more control over what is dispensed.
I find TEVA to be quite distinct from other Levothyroxine brands. It's very effective, but any time I've attempted a sudden brand shift whilst taking it, the side effects have been quite dramatic. You can definitely acclimatise to it, it's effective as I said, but I wouldn't switch from say, 100mcg Accord to 100mcg TEVA straight or add in 50mcg straight away. I'd do it very gradually.
At my pharmacy if they give me the wrong brand, I go back with the medicine in hand. I have another condition and can have serious allergic reactions so they replace it (if they can). If you're not happy, take the medicine back. Tell them you will have a horrible reaction if you are forced to suddenly change your brand.
Did you also know (I discovered this recently) that if you have electronic prescriptions, whilst your prescription is in the system it can be transferred via their online system to another pharmacy? It's called 'releasing the prescription' you simply find another pharmacy that has Accord and ask Lloyds or whatever they are now, to release it to that other pharmacy. Then collect. Bear in mind all future prescriptions will go to that pharmacy so if you want it to go back you simply ask the new one to release your prescription back to them.
How did you get your GP to put only accord on your prescript? Mine says it's not possible.
Our GP, well it's the pharmacist at the surgery, states the brand on the prescription and Lloyd's will then supply that brand. They have to follow the prescription.
I switched to Boots because they have Almus 50mcg which is Accord rebranded for them. Unfortunately my 25mcg were Mercury Pharma and I don't get along with that, it feels like I'm not taking anything and my hair falls out. I managed to persuade the GP to give me an extra 28 days of 50mcg for half a tablet so my prescription is all Accord. I actually found Teva fine but with drug shortages going to Boots was the only way to guarantee Accord.
I couldn’t get on with Pharmacy2you either after they took over Lloyds. So I changed to Well online and they are perfect. This was months ago and I’m still getting mail from Lloyds surprisingly, begging me to go back.
SlowDragon didn’t Slow Dragon - apologies if it wasn’t… but I am sure I remember a mention, something about Teva - Accord 50mcg in previous post last week.
I have had terrible issues trying to source my brand of liquid levo, both in person and online. Finally found online, Signature Pharmacy who have been wonderful despite being told by other pharmacies that either they can’t or won’t get it, or that the company has been taken over and is no longer making it.
