Change Brand on Levothyroxine
Hi Peggymae , the document you need to point out to your GP is here: gov.uk/drug-safety-update/l...
This post contains lots of other useful information :
Peggymae-18, tattybogle has given you the link to the relevant document for your GP. You can also tell your pharmacist about this and request they add to their system that you should be dispensed with your preferred medication brand every time.
and read this post from earlier today
Please consider putting in a Yellow Card report on any medicine which doesn't work as well, upsets you, or anything else.
More details here:
Peggymae- 18, I cannot tolerate TEVA due to acacia powder as a filler. Many cannot tolerate mannitol , another filler in Teva and other levo medication. My scrip specifies Actavis/Almus only. For the same reason I have to specify Liothyronine brand. In the last 3 years I have only once received the incorrect brand which I returned and was given the correct brand.
GP's and pharmacists will sometimes try to argue with you that all Levo is the same, it isn't and we know it isn't. I should also say that I suffer from a number of food intolerances. Hope you get sorted
Hi I've had same problem it's down to the pharmacy so my Dr has requested not to have Teva but we'll see at next perscription 🤔I'm hopeful they can buy in the stuff I need but depends on their suppliers I guess Good luck with yours 👍
morning I have phone my GP and put in a request at my pharmacy to stay with the same brand. The pharmacy told me they have put a request to order it in for me for the future. I hope this helps.
hi this happened for me recently. I didn’t feel like I had side effects from Teva but I found Accord to be more effective? Is this what happened for you?
Hi yes I did notice I felt a lot better and happy with Accord.
