I've read previous posts here about melatonin and would like to enquire more in detail. I suffer bad jet lag when I travel east due to 8 hours time difference. The only thing that has helped me in the past is taking melatonin 5-6mg just before I go to bed. I tend to need it for the first 5-6 days before I can regain normal sleep pattern without any aid.
I have just started taking Liothyronine with my Levo this week. I used to take Levo at 6am but understand from this forum it is better to have 3-4 hours of empty stomach before and after medicating, so I decided to switch to ~3am when I wake up to go to the bathroom. Unfortunately, after 3 days, I find it difficult to go back to sleep and I wake up feeling exhausted.
I'm now thinking of taking my dose at night before sleep as I can easily adjust my meal time accordingly to allow for the 3-4 hours gap. So my question relates to if taking melatonin at night at the same time as my thyroid medication will cause any conflict?
Thank you all again.
Edit: I just remembered since Liothyronine has a short half life and I am only on a starter dose once a day, I should take it in the morning with my Levo.
