gp results explained

I’ve been struggling again with all my hypothyroidism digestive symptoms since Christmas and doctor reluctantly but went with full blood tests .

my tsh is 1

T4 and t3 levels all normal.

All antibody levels low bottom of range.

Dr wants to see me next week for

High Platelet count of 500 range 150-400

Anyone know what this is and is it thyroid related. ?

Also if antibodies range are all low then does this mean I don’t have autoimmune disease?

please add actual results and ranges of Ft4 and Ft3

Was test done early morning, ideally before 9am, only drinking water between waking and test ……and essentially last dose Levo 24 hours before test

Metformin frequently lowers TSH - so ignore TSH….look at Ft4 and Ft3 results

Looking for both to be at least 50-60% through range

How much Levo are you taking

Do you always get same brand at each prescription

What vitamin supplements are you taking

ESSENTIAL to test vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin at least once a year

Low B12 highly likely on Metformin. GP should be testing vitamin levels.

Ft4 is 14 and ft3 is 4.6. I got a phone call from the receptionist saying no action is needed relating to thyroid as every test that they can do has been done and I was lucky that I got my test 3 month earlier than it’s due. Will be talking to the gp. Looks like private test will need to be done.

We need ranges with those but they are probably low in range. Private tests is a good idea.

Please add ranges (figures in brackets after each result) so you can then work out percentage through range here

thyroid.chingkerrs.online

For example

If ranges are the most common of 12-22 for Ft4 the results show dose is too low

Free T4 (fT4) 14 pmol/L (12 - 22)

Ft4 only 20.0% through range

Free T3 (fT3) 4.6 pmol/L (3.1 - 6.8)

Ft3 40.5%

Ft4 = Levo dose

Testing with last dose 24 hours before test, aiming for Ft4 at least 60% through range

How much levothyroxine are you taking

How much do you weigh in kilo

I weigh 80 kg and on 125 mcg . Not got ranges now on app. It’s blocked me from it .

You are legally entitled to printed copies of your blood test results and ranges.

The best way to get access to current and historic blood test results is to register for online access to your medical record and blood test results

UK GP practices are supposed to offer everyone online access for blood test results. Easiest option is NHS app, you may need "enhanced access" to see blood results.

If you can’t currently see test results or ranges online, ring receptionist and request printed copies of results. Allow couple of days and then go and pick up.
