Bloods taken first thing in the morning before food/ meds/ drink.
I’m currently on 100mcg Accord brand levotyroxine once a day - I previously had a different brand of levo that didn’t suit me. I’m very keen to stick with Accord.
Recommendations suggest increasing by at least 25% when pregnant. I’m keen to keep with Accord, but they don’t make 25mcg tablets (I don’t think but I’ll double check). So options are:
- split a 50mcg tablet daily (I’ve not yet asked the pharmacy if they can be split)
- take 150mcg every other day
- take 200mcg two days a week as per NICE guidelines & BTF website (but I would’ve thought 150mcg every other day would be more consistent)
Any experience/ suggestions? I’ll have a telephone appointment with my doctor tomorrow but he’s not very experienced with this.
NHS have declined me being referred to endocrinology. I’ve paid for a private endocrinologist previously who wasn’t great - any suggestions for London-based endocrinologists would be fab.
Thanks for reading if you’ve gotten this far

No problem - if I edit this post can I remove the endo referral recommendation or will it cause a duplicate post again? Am I allowed to ask for a recommendation or is this against the rules of this page?
GP has referred me twice and both times endo have declined to see me - despite incredibly erratic TSH results & poor stabilisation, & being scheduled to start IVF later this year.
Fortunately we’ve conceived naturally so I’m just trying to reduce the chance of miscarriage as much as possible.
Yes you can edit the request out on this post (and start a new post), it shouldnt duplicate it, not sure how that happens. Its fine to ask for recommendations or feedback on specific Endo's, just replies always have to be via person message (chat).
Often there is an Endo attached or linked to the midwifery unit, can you ask your midwife about this? You could also complain to PALS.
You have room to go up by 25mcgs right away with TSH over 2.
Wishing you a lot of luck & all the best for the pregnancy. Congratulations.
