I’m thinking of trying collagen peptides. Does anyone have any experience, info, recommendations about them?

Collagen peptides…

I did look around a but but found the sheer number of products and the volume of information simply overwhelming.
I think that, like several other things, they have been heavily promoted. That doesn't mean that they are necessarily in any sense bad, but don't get pulled into the vortex.
If you go ahead, buy a modest amount and see how it goes. Some people have difficulty tolerating some products so it wouldn't be sensible to buy more than a small amount to try.
There have been quite a number of posts which could well be worth reading. Here is one possible search:

Thank you, helvella . It is very overwhelming isn’t it. I think I’ve been worrying about my non existent tsh now I’m on t3. It completely bit the dust. I’ve been thinking about something that might support my joints and muscles….and to be honest…worrying about my bones! I driven myself a bit mad with reading different articles and info and advice about suppressed tsh and osteoporosis. Sometimes I feel completely reassured that the risk might only be quite small…and everything in life comes with a certain amount of risk…and then I wonder what I could do to offset any risk. I started looking at collagen peptides and I’m still thinking it over. Excellent advice to start by trialling a small amount. I do often react to things so starting anything new always comes with a bit of worry. Thank you.

I agree with helvella i looked at your question yesterday and couldn’t offer anything positive.
I do take creatine monohydrate as I do resistance weights 3-4 times a week and this helps with something to do with protein synthesis and reduces DOMs muscle aches. If it were me I’d concentrate on getting good quality protein on board and the collagen peptides will be in it.
My Hungarian friend says we should all be chomping in the gristly bits in chicken thighs, the knobbly ends, they are bought up to believe they are the best bits!
Bone broth is a more palatable way, any old carcass roast bones in the slow cooker overnight or all day hour and hours till all the goodness melts into the stock and get that down you 🤗
Thank you for your thoughts Regenallotment . Creatine…I will look at that. What is DOMs muscle aches?
Delayed onset muscle aches, that day after the day after pain in muscles when you have been in the gym or done a long walk. I get it so bad, I think it’s a hypo thing. At its worst if ache for 5-6 days after a yoga sesssion. Which is daft! Optimising thyroid hormones and 5mg creatine daily is sorting it. 👍
Ohhh! Thank you. I get that! I will definitely look at creatine. My joint and muscles have been two of my biggest issues since becoming hypo. They have definitely improved since starting t3.
