Can someone point me in the right direction of what a NHS full thyroid blood test panel should consist of please? I have Hashimotos
Am finally seeing endo and want to make sure I get the right tests. Its been a while since Ive seen an endo and while since I had a full panel and cant remember.
I did try and search for it without much success.
Thank you

With the NHS it can vary by post code as to what test you might be able to get. Many areas only offer TSH, a few include FT4 as well, rarely if ever FT3.
Recommend getting your own tests in advance with Monitor My Health which is an NHS lab, so your results should be accepted by the Endo.
Thankyou - It doesn’t really matter whether they do the actual test or not - I just want to know what I ‘should’ get in a full panel to test bloods and vitamins etc I’m trying to work out where I am deficient so need to know what one might test in the first place
And ideally test BOTH Tpo and TG thyroid antibodies
And cholesterol and cortisol
Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
T3 ….day before test split T3 as 2 or 3 smaller doses spread through the day, with last dose approximately 8-12 hours before test
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins
If you normally take levothyroxine at bedtime/in night ...adjust timings as follows prior to blood test
If testing Monday morning, delay Saturday evening dose levothyroxine until Sunday morning. Delay Sunday evening dose levothyroxine until after blood test on Monday morning. Take Monday evening dose levothyroxine as per normal
Monitor My Health (NHS private test service) offer thyroid and vitamin testing, plus cholesterol and HBA1C for £65
IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 5-7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results
In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate folate supplement (eg Jarrow methyl folate 400mcg) and continue separate B12 if last test result serum B12 was below 500 or active B12 (private test) under 70:
Hello I managed to get TSH, FT3, FT4, TPO antibodies and TSH antibodies (also know as TRAB) through the GP but they said no to the vitamins so I had to buy medicheks separately still. You are right to double check what is being ordered, because from my experience these don't come as a package on the NHS.
