I have a Branch retinal vein occlusion-(blocked vein at the back of my eye ) which is causing slight bulging and consequent distortion of my vision in my right eye. Every month I have tests, followed by an injection of a drug called Vabysmo into the eye to reduce the odema. In preparation for this monthly procedure, my eye is anaesthetised and then iodine drops are used to prevent infection. Could this have an impact on my thyroid levels, or is it too small to worry about?

However, as I was looking for information, I noticed at least one mention of them using povidone-iodine. In general, povidone iodine has a lower impact than, say, tincture of iodine. And it enables less iodine to be used as it is not free iodine which can readily get transferred elsewhere - it remains where it is put better. (Though, in time, that will happen.) Is this what they use on your eye?
