Cold toes and fingers + anxiety

I was wondering if having cold toes, fingers and anxiety is more common in winter than in summer for people with hypothyroid?

I've been experiencing that recently. It's like the body refusing to circulate blood to those body parts and I wake feeling anxious still first thing in the morning.

Increased anxiety has been the worst symptom of having a thyroid condition for me and it is always worse if thyroid medication or key vitamins (ferritin, folate, vitamins B12 and D) are not optimal.

Regarding cold fingers and toes- my Endo suggested that I might have Reynauds, as I can get a bluish tinge to my digits in the winter. For me, turmeric with ginger and black pepper has helped my circulation. Ginkgo Bilbao is also recommended on the Reynauds forum, but I’ve not tried this.

Thank you for sharing about having optimal vitamin levels, Buddy195 I'm making ginger soup for breakfast and occasionally add in black pepper. For tumeric, do you add them to your dishes or?

I've been experiencing longer periods of cold toes and fingers over the last couple of days. Sometimes it last for the entire day. In January, I felt it occasionally but towards the evening, my body would start heating up.

Coincidentally, I've also just started on my 2 x 5mg T3 a day. So I wasn't sure if it had to do with it. Or I was wondering if it is due to the pea milk that I'm drinking more of :mightydrinks.com/products/u... - would that reduce the absorption of my meds?

I take a turmeric supplement with ginger and black pepper (these co factors apparently aid absorption) as I developed yellow fingers when trying to add turmeric powder to my smoothies/ juices (akin to nicotine staining! 🤣)

Personally I’m mindful not to have excess iodine )being hypothyroid), although I’m not sure how much the pea drink you mention contains. SlowDragon is more knowledgeable than I when it comes to vitamin/ mineral advice, so will tag her in to advise.

I would consider trying a different “non milk” milk with no iodine in

Personally I use Plenish oat milk

Thanks for your recommendation, SlowDragon ! I also get Plenish’s Cashew Milk, and sometimes the oat and almond varieties. Any other brands you’d recommend?

I was trying something new but didn’t realize the iodine content.

I haven’t tried many others

I avoid anything within iodine in (for thyroid) or sunflower oil (as don’t like the bitter aftertaste)
